Converting Word documents to PDF is one of the most common document tasks. Whether you're finalizing a report, submitting homework, or sharing a contract, PDF is the universal format for finalized documents.
Method 1: Microsoft Word (Desktop)
If you have Word installed, go to File → Save As → choose PDF from the format dropdown. This produces the best results since Word knows its own formatting perfectly.
Method 2: Google Docs (Free)
Upload your .docx to Google Drive, open it in Google Docs, then go to File → Download → PDF Document. This works on any computer with a browser.
Method 3: Browser Print to PDF
Open the Word document in any application, press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on Mac), and select "Save as PDF" as the printer. This works universally but may not preserve complex formatting perfectly.
Method 4: LibreOffice (Free Desktop App)
Download the free LibreOffice suite, open your document, and export to PDF via File → Export as PDF. LibreOffice handles most Word formatting well and is completely free.
After Converting
Once you have your PDF, you can use FreePDFNest to compress it for email, add password protection, or merge it with other PDFs.
