Scanned PDFs contain images of text, not actual text. You can see the words on screen, but you can't select, search, or copy them. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology solves this.
Free OCR Methods
Google Docs: Upload the scanned PDF to Google Drive. Right-click → Open with Google Docs. Google's OCR engine extracts the text automatically.
Microsoft OneNote: Paste the scanned image into OneNote. Right-click → Copy Text from Picture.
Google Keep: Upload the image to Google Keep and use "Grab image text."
After OCR
Once you have the text, you can format it in Word or Google Docs. If you need it back as a PDF, export from your word processor.
Using FreePDFNest with Scanned PDFs
Most FreePDFNest tools work perfectly with scanned PDFs — merge, split, compress, rotate, protect, and annotate all work since they process pages as units without needing to read the text content.
